Forager Wins GameMaker Best Game Award 2020

Forager Wins GameMaker Best Game Award 2020

We’ve counted your votes, and we’re delighted to reveal that the winner of Best Game 2020 is Forager!

Developed by indie development studio HopFrog, Forager is an open-world adventure and exploration game, inspired by the Legend of Zelda franchise, as well as modern indie hits such as Terraria and Stardew Valley.

Forager was a huge hit with our panel of judges and with the GameMaker community, so a huge congratulations to everyone at HopFrog.

Mariano Cavallero of HopFrog, said:

“The Forager team and I feel very excited about this award. It’s been a long journey, but incredibly fun the whole way through. I have personally always loved the speed of development that GameMaker Studio 2 provides and can’t wait to make some more games using the new engine features.”

Stuart Poole, our General Manager here at GameMaker, added:

“Making beautiful games easily has been our mantra for the last eighteen months, and our latest beta release of GameMaker, due to go stable this month, continues to blend powerful functionality with accessibility. I would like to pay tribute to all the finalists, as they have all shown in their own way what can technically be achieved with GameMaker.”

Our final five were all of the highest quality, and we’d like to take a moment to congratulate all of our finalists:

Thank you to everyone who entered this year’s awards, and everyone who made a game with GameMaker in 2020. We can’t wait to see what you all create in 2021!
