Blast away with Operius - Winner of the GX Game Jam

Blast away with Operius - Winner of the GX Game Jam

When the Opera GX Game Jam launched back in the summer, its goal was to find the “No Internet” page for Opera GX (the browser made for gamers). The prize? The chance to entertain GX’s active community of over 10 million gamers whenever their internet went down - oh, and $10,000. There were just a few rules to fuel creators creativity; most importantly, it had to be UFO-themed and made in GameMaker Studio 2!

The response was overwhelming - over 900 incredible entries from GameMakers’ community of creators. Our expert jury agreed on the best entries and the top eight games were put forward to a public vote. Now, our quest is finally over and we are thrilled to announce our winners:

"No Internet" Game on Opera GX

OPERIUS

By

MORS

All these fantastic games will be available in a few weeks on GXC. This is Opera’s upcoming self-publishing platform that will allow indie game makers to publish their GameMaker Studio2 creations directly to the platform and for free - for other users to enjoy and give instant feedback.

Operius - the people's choice

Designed by the talented indie creator, Mors, Operius is a fast and addictive shoot-em-up where you collect powerups and blast through infinite levels. Inspired by the arcade shooters of the eighties, Operius uses retro vector graphics and is complemented by a pulsating high-adrenaline soundtrack, written by Catonator. Want to enjoy Operius together with friends? Just share your keyboard and enter the two-player mode.

You can also play Operius in online mode and train for your next internet outage by typing opera://operius in Opera GX’s address bar right now. Apologies other browsers, looks like surfing might feel washed out and dinosaur games prehistoric...

Trouble finding Operius in your Opera GX? Make sure you’ve got it updated to the newest version. There are 3 ways to do it:

1: Go to opera:about in the GX address bar

2: From the Opera logo menu, click Help, then About Opera

3: From the Opera logo menu, click Update & Recovery
