GameMaker Studio 2 Unites With Global Game Jam As A Champion Sponsor

Today we are pleased to announce that we have united with Global Game Jam as a Champion Sponsor for its annual Jam. Tens of thousands of participants across the globe will join forces for a weekend of creativity, community, inspiration and pizza. The 11th annual Global Game Jam (GGJ 2019) will take place between January 25th-27th 2019, in an anticipated 900 sites in over 100 countries. We will be offering a free temporary Gamemaker Studio 2 Desktop licence to all of the 45,000 participants to use during the jam.

“GGJ is one of the biggest events in the games development calendar and we’re honoured to be a Global Partner for the 2019 edition,” said Russell Kay, CTO of YoYo Games. “With no barriers to entry and powerful functionality to enable rapid game development, GameMaker Studio 2 is the perfect 2D development environment for participants to turn their dreams into reality.”

The Global Game Jam® is the world’s largest game jam where amateur and professional game designers can join forces to create video games in physical locations around the world. It brings together creative minds to share experiences, ideas and sentiments through the medium of video games. The weekend stirs an international, creative buzz in the industry, exploring the process of game development in every aspect, including programming, iterative design, narrative exploration and artistic expression. Condensed into a 48-hour development cycle, GGJ encourages people of all backgrounds to participate and contribute to the spread of game development and creativity in an open, non-competitive atmosphere.

More information on how to get involved and how you can get using GameMaker will be coming from us soon. For now, you can go here to sign up for GGJ 2019.
